Hi, I’m David Garic. In this blog I talk about alternation of my employment status from student intern into full-time employee, why I chose Pixion, more about coming aboard process, and what I like about working at Pixion the most.

Also, I’m sharing mine software engineer work experiences, what professional development elements I cherish and one very peculiar personal trivia.

Hope you’ll like it!

My Pixion story
Copied!

I joined Pixion as a student intern in May 2024., and by September that year, I’ve started working as a full-time employee.

I liked the company and when I finished my faculty obligations I wanted to stay. Everyone agreed and it happened super easy, just a pure formality without any additional requirements.

My main role at Pixion is being a Full Stack Software Engineer working on the exciting project, handling the development of the application. This experience has been a game-changer, giving me the chance to develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire technology stack.

Coming aboard
Copied!

I was impressed by nice and streamlined recruitment process - a single interview that covers the basics of everything I was expected to be familiar with.

Also, the onboarding was amazing - multiple one on one sessions explaining what I will be doing, followed by relatively easy tasks to help me get familiar with the project.

The reason I applied to Pixion was because they offered a software engineer position and that was my professional goal - a chance to learn a lot of useful skills.

The flexible working hours and supportive environment made it an ideal place for a student like me, helping balance my studies and work seamlessly.

Pixion elements I like the most
Copied!

The things I currently love the most at Pixion are the flexible working hours and the relaxed atmosphere.

  • Flexible working hours FTW!

There is no fixed time work attendance policy, and the possibility of working at home allows me to work whenever it suits me. That makes day to day life much easier to organise.

  • Top notch work atmosphere!

Everyone is friendly and relaxed, there is no stiffness even though everything is professional.

My favourite professional Pixion moment

One of my favourite tasks so far has been introducing user guides to our project. It required constant collaboration with other teams to make it right and it challenged me to think holistically about the product

Through the experience I gained some deeper knowledge about how the technologies we use work in practice and also deepened my understanding of the challenges that working with other teams can present.

Having open, clear communication and conducting productive meetings are crucial for cross team collaboration and project success.

(Professional) Development at Pixion

Working here has provided me with constant learning opportunities.

Working on a complex project that covers many aspects, requires constant learning and continuous skill set expansion - which is really useful for maturing as a developer.

Extracurricular activities I practice
Copied!

Currently I am into bouldering. There are few local gyms with tall bouldering walls for us to climb along predefined routes, preferably without falling.

It’s a great way to stay active and challenge myself.

Personal Trivia

I can clap with one hand.

Final thougts
Copied!

At Pixion, I’v got support all the way, both professionally and personally wise.

Constant learning opportunities and experiences that build tech and soft skills made me grow and mature as a software engineer and personally. Company culture and benefits allowed me not to compromise on any important aspects of my life, during my student days and afterwards. Big one-hand clap for that!
